Kash-Wayne Campbell On Turning His Real Estate Job Into a Thriving Business
Podcast
Interview with Kash-Wayne Campbell by Kevin Kauffman
Intro
Real estate offers us the rare opportunity to not just have a job, but to build a solid business entity. The surprising thing is, many agents don’t take the step of growing a team, and it holds them back. Whether people are intimidated, or feel they don’t know enough or we have a lot of misconceptions, many agents just don’t know the value of levelling and becoming an entrepreneur. Our guest took that leap after just two years in business, and the lessons he’s learned along the way can help other agents who want a business, not a job.
How does starting a team actually improve our lives? When can we know that we’re ready to bring someone on, and how do we make sure we’re creating an environment where they can succeed?
On this episode, I’m joined by Kash-Wayne Campbell, an agent, team leader and broker, who shares on how he turned his real estate job into a career and how agents can set themselves on that path.
Quotes

Key Points
Great team leaders make teaching a priority
Even if we’re busy, taking the time to mentor, coach, educate and train is incredibly important if we run a team. It gives the people we hire a lot of value, it keeps us sharp, and it is a huge investment in our future success, and the success of our people.
Don’t start a team until you’ve become a great agent
Before we take the step of bringing on agents and growing a team, we need to make sure we are as knowledgeable as possible about the business we’re running. If we don’t know anything, we will lead those agents (and ourselves) to failure.
The most successful teams give people room to grow
If we want to bring more people into our organizations, we also have to make sure there’s room for them to grow and rise in the business. If the ceiling is low, they will never stick around.

Closing Paragraph
It’s hard to get off the hamster wheel of going from transaction to transaction if we don’t have a growth path for ourselves and our businesses. The best path we can take is to grow a team, add on some leverage, become leaders and develop talent. This isn’t just an overnight decision. We need to start off by becoming the best real estate professionals we can be so that when we do bring people on, they join an environment where we effectively can contribute to them and they can contribute to us. Ultimately, our ability to turn the job into a business is the best form of levelling up there is.
