Realtors: How to Organize (or Clean Up!) Your Sphere of Influence

Are you keeping your Sphere of Influence current and updated?

If I were to take a peek at your Sphere of Influence spreadsheet, what would I find? Is it up to date with current contact information?

I have to admit… just a few weeks ago I declared bankruptcy on my SOI. So, I started from scratch and re-created my own personal Sphere of Influence list.

Who and what goes into a Sphere of Influence?

I made sure to add columns for name, phone number, e-mail address, physical address, and spouse/significant other, just to name a few of the data points to include.

In our old lists, Fred and I had people we haven’t talked to in years. Yet we were also missing folks who we are close enough to have lunch, dinner, or coffee with on a regular basis.

You’ve got to start somewhere. Go through your phone contact list, your Facebook friends list, your e-mail address book, and anywhere else you have a list of contacts. Who of these people would take your calls? If you ran into them at the grocery store, which of these people would you actually pause to chat with?

You’re not alone

Whether you are a new agent who hasn’t built a SOI list yet, or a long-term agent who has been seriously neglecting your list, you are not alone! Maybe you, like me, need to declare bankruptcy on your SOI and start over… or maybe you just need to do a bit of clean up and maintenance. There are so many of us in the industry who could be doing a better job with this. And now, more than ever before, it is critical for our business that we buckle down and focus on our Sphere!
